The badge
A score nobody can verify is a JPEG. The AI Trust Scanner badge is a live embed script — it fetches the current score every time it renders, expires without a re-scan, and can be revoked. Nobody can Photoshop a 94.
Scanned
Automated scan ≥ 70
Monochrome seal, score only
Certified
≥ 80 + human review + domain verification
Full-colour seal, "Certified" ribbon, reviewer attestation on verify page
Certified Gold
≥ 90 + human review + 6 months continuous ≥ 90
Gold seal + "since {month year}"
Example seals shown at sample scores — for illustration only.
How it works
- 1. Signed token. Each badge is bound to a domain, plan, and issue date via a JWT.
badge.jsverifies the token matcheswindow.location.hostnamebefore rendering — nobody can embed someone else's badge. - 2. Freshness is built in.A score older than 90 days renders as "Score expired — re-scan pending". An active subscription means automatic monthly re-scans, so the badge never goes stale.
- 3. A threshold to display.Minimum score 70/100 to render at all. Below that, the embed renders nothing — never a public shaming state on the merchant's own site.
- 4. Revocable. If a store is later found to be gaming signals or a subscription lapses, the badge blanks within minutes.

What's the difference between Scanned, Certified, and Certified Gold?
Scanned means a store cleared an automated scan at 70+ and gets a monochrome seal with just the score. Certified requires 80+ plus a human reviewer and domain verification, and unlocks the full-colour seal with a reviewer attestation. Certified Gold requires 90+ sustained for six continuous months, plus everything Certified includes, and adds a gold seal stamped with the date the streak began.

A static badge image can be Photoshopped, copied to a site that never earned it, or left up long after the score behind it changed. AI Trust Scanner's badge is a script that fetches the current score every time the page renders, verifies the embedding domain against a signed token, and blanks itself if the score expires or drops below the display threshold — so what visitors see is always current, not archived.
Read the full answerCan a trust score or badge be revoked?
Yes. The badge checks the underlying score every time it renders, so a lapsed subscription or a score that drops below the 70-point display threshold blanks the badge within minutes — not the next time someone happens to re-scan. A store found to be gaming signals after a human review can also have its Certified or Certified Gold status revoked outright, with the reason recorded in a permanent audit trail.
